Virtual Counseling Eligibility
The following entities funded by BIE are eligible for Virtual Counseling:
K-12 schools
Haskell Indian Nations University students and staff.
Southwestern Indian Polytechnic Institute students and staff
Students and staff from Tribal Colleges and Universities receiving funding from BIE
Staff members from other programs and/or departments funded by BIE
BHWP Virtual Counseling Services DO NOT support:
Long-term, intensive therapy
Substance abuse treatment
Diagnostic testing
Sharing counseling progress with supervisors (as part of personnel actions)
Psychological exams
What is Solution-Focused Brief Therapy?
According to research, solution-focused brief therapy:
Decreases behavioral health symptoms.
Significantly improves student or staff well-being once they implement recommended behavior changes (when provided in a school setting).
Is effective for students who have intellectual, learning or developmental difficulties.
Is adaptable for cultural sensitivity.
